I've been working as a personal trainer and health coach for almost 9 months.
I am always amazed at the misconceptions people have about "bulking up" and "toning."
I have had so many Y members come to me this week asking for help because they
only want to get "toned" and don't want to "bulk up."
I even had one girl argue that if she did the exercise that I was suggesting, that she
would "bulk up" like Arnold Schwarzeneggar. I promise that is what she said.
She was dead serious too!
Oh my! I am not a violent person (not even close) but comments like these seriously
make me twitch!
It would be a dream come true for me if someone were to tell me I had amazing
shoulders, or nice biceps. And a quad sweep? I can dream!
I found some info on from SparkPeople.com that I think does a pretty good job of
explaining "toning" and "bulking" as people like to call it. The article is an easy read,
and keeps it short and simple.
So today I want to share that information here so that you will know the truth! Please
spread the word and help keep personal trainers everywhere from LOSING THEIR
Please help stop the twitchy palms! Ha!

Also, it's Health and Fitness Friday over at Jen's blog, so I'm linking up to the fun!
As far as my workouts for this week, I got a little off plan. :(
I did get in some cardio, but I've slacked on the weight training. I did a leg workout
yesterday (that I am feeling today!) so today I'll be doing upper body.
I really, really need to get over my "random wanderer" phase. I have gotten so bad
about wandering from plan to plan and just doing exercises that I feel like doing.
I know that I need to follow a more consistent plan to achieve the results that I'm
looking for. (bad trainer! I KNOW better, but I'm too darn stubborn to DO better!)
Okay, so I'm going to work on that!
Have a great Friday, and a great weekend!
And please.....stop being afraid that you will "bulk up!" Stop the twitching! ;)
